IN THE NEWS ..

I found this imaginative site and on it they have a competition running to redesign the BP logo in light of all the damage the oil slick has done. Quite fun flicking through the pages and have pulled out my favourites. Obviously this is a nasty issue but a little design humour can be fun too. Oh, I found this via the Futurebrand blog ..

GENNA CAMPTON - MELBOURNE ILLUSTRATOR ..

Finally, after a freezing cold day .. I am now warm. Veging on the couch with blanket wrapped around me, watching 'Packed to the Rafters' (wondering what dramas are going to happen this year) and blogging away. Tonight I visited Genna Campton's blog and just fell in love again with her amazing ability to be funny, stylish and creative in a swish of a pencil. A Mebourne girl with so much talent .. go visit her blog. Enjoy!

SUMMER DREAMING ..

This image was originally found on Red Ticking blog .. and Sal over at Once.Daily.Chic blog also poses the question .. so I thought I would see what others think.

Note: In the mood I am in (hungry, on diet), I think I would choose A .. hopeless aren't I. 2 kids, 127 KFC meals, 214 packets of salt'n'vinegar chips, 98 bakers delight cheesy rolls and 40+ years have bought me to wishing my design skills away for a skinny body .. YIKES

GREAT SOUTH AUSTRALIAN HOLIDAY RENTAL ...

That stands for Port Elliot Boutique Escapes. Now, bare with me while I explain how I came upon this delightful home. I am in the process of designing a new website .. part of design is research .. and sometimes when researching I get lost in blog land. But. Lucky I did. I was on Outdoors On Parade blog and found Blis Web Design in Adelaide. Flicking through their (numerous) clients websites, I found PEBE. Piccies are delightful and the rate is pretty good. I love renting holiday homes and have done many a time .. and I think when the weather gets a little better I might have to pack up the family and head on over to SA for some R&R ..

gotta love bargain shopping ..

I didn't make that up .. that is Kush Living's byline. And it is true. As I never seem to get to the shops these days, online shopping is becoming more attractive. I don't think cheap always equates to nasty .. and these little samples from their website look pretty good. The throw is only $60, the little red waste basket $15, the teapot $30 .. and even the multiframe picture is only $60 (it would great over a desk in the boys room). Anyway, if you are need of a guilt-free weekend purchase to pretty up your house .. go check them out here

oops again ..

OK .. I tried to fix it and now it looks like this. AND I wrote such a nice thing about Julia Gillard and Natalie Bloom which I now realise you cannot read. Oh well, this will have to be the look for a little while until I figure out how to a) find the time to do again .. and b) work out how to change properly. I am a graphic designer - you'd think I could work this all out. NOT!!

JULIA + BLOOM ..

Hi everyone. I have just received this promotional email from Bloom re: an offer they are putting up to celebrate Julia Gillard's appointment as the first ever female PM. Now, I am not posting this because I am pushing Bloom's product - moreso, I am posting about a great Australian company celebrating a momentous day in Australian history. Julia Gillard has been able to become the new PMS with a lot of hard work, skill, dedication and support. Natalie Bloom has created + developed her cosmetics company in pretty much the same manner. So, this post is about women and success (and heh, red nail polish is always good too).

OOPS

Sorry .. got a bit carried away with changing my blog look .. and now I have no idea how to go back. Why oh why is there not an AppleZ or Control Backspace in life. I'll fix it .. promise!!

TICK TOCK ...

Oooohhhheeeee .. arent these delightful! These are from a shop in Johnston St, Fitzroy (where all the good things come from!!) called ZAKKAYA (visit here). They sell 'unique homeware, kitchenware and fashion items from Japan' .. and I just love these clocks. I mean .. why DO clocks have to be round .. seems a tad boring after looking at these. I like white (my fav colour) but would also settle for either of the others. Which colour would you get?

They will be at the next Living InStyle in Melbourne which is where I found out about them. I'll be going .. will you .. if so, I'll see you there. I'll wear black so you can find me (designer joke!!)

BYRON BAY DELIGHT ...

OK .. sorry for the absence. I have been MIA for over a week now. Must admit to a bit of laziness mixed with being busy. I have been visiting all your blogs for inspiration so thanks for all your great posts. I just found this lovely home (here) and am putting a proposition to you. How about we all go 1-millionth in this home. That's $3 each x 1,000,000 people. Think it will work. Hmmm. Must be another way (-:

COLD & RAINY DAY ..

I just found this delightful little gif via 'its what i love' blog (you have to go see her memory box site - very, very unique and I'm thinking i would love one for my 2 boys - well, not for them, for me about them!!). Anyway, a bit sidetracked. It's cold down the coast today and we have the fire going and the boys are doing playdough and singing silly little tunes and making me laugh. They are sleeping at their nanna's tonight as we were meant to be going to a suprise 40th party (which was cancelled) so i am going to spend the entire afternoon on the couch watching movies. So it can rain, rain, rain all day as it will make it even better veging out.

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME ..

Excuse my tone here everyone .. but what the?? I am gobsmacked by such a fantastic place to buy linen, towels, cushions .. heh, they even sell candles .. and here I am (excuse me here) a sucker going to the likes of Myer to get all this. Elm Place Homewares (visit here) have a shop in South Yarra - maybe you all go there and are thinking that I have gone completely mad. I am just so darn excited as I have been needing new linen and towels for ages - and as we now live in a coastal town outside of Geelong, I have been unable to find anything (repeat - ANYTHING) nice. Tomorrow, I am getting my wallet out, loading up the credit card and buying the whole damn store. Next week I will be one happy camper (-:

I forever thank Lee at Glimpse of Style for putting this link on her blog. She is now my favourite person in the whole wide world. Thanks Lee!!!

NEW YORK FURNITURE DESIGNER ..

For many, many reasons I would LOVE to live in New York. And now I have another. These side tables from Faktura Design (link) are so perfect. On their website they state .. 'Our goal is to bring well designed furniture to as many people as possible'. Lucky for us heh!!

I found these tables via Alain Rouschmeyer blog (go have a peek at all his great work - just lovely).

DESIGNER BIKE HELMETS ..

Sitting up watching Samantha Stosur (hopefully) win the tennis. Will refrain from 'Aussie, Aussie, Aussie' chanting .. but do hope she wins. Whilst watching I do what any dedicated blogger does .. and searched the ww-world to find interesting and new things. And that I have tonight my dear friends. Now, I can't say I have ridden a bike for a while .. BUT .. should I ever decide to take it up and want to look on-so-stylish .. I may have to invest in one of these little lovelies. Found via the Finnish Design Shop, who sell a huge range of really, really cool stuff .. these Yakkay bike helmet covers are just SO original. The blurb on their site is ... 'The main function of your bicycle helmet is to protect your head. But that doesn't mean you have to compromise on your style when wearing it. If you are among those who use your head, you are using a helmet, and if you are also among those who appreciate looking stylish - you wear a Yakkay helmet.' Pretty much sums it up. Gotta love the different names too .. Tokyo, Cambridge, Paris - which leads me back to the tennis .. what design would we have on an 'Aussie' helmet ..
